WILLIAM MONSON
DIRECTOR, CENTER FOR FAMILY ENTERPRISE, UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS OPUS COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
Bill Monson has 30 years of managerial experience in line and staff positions in Fortune 500, entrepreneurial, and educational contexts. Since 1989, Bill has been in leadership roles in executive education at the University of St. Thomas first as Director of the Executive MBA program and now as Director of the Center for Family Enterprise. Prior to these positions he managed a start-up venture, was Manager of Corporate Management Development at Medtronic, and was Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in Management at the College of St. Thomas. His teaching and consulting activities relate to running a business in an increasingly complex, dynamic and uncertain global marketplace. Bill is finishing a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems at the Fielding Graduate University focusing on what patterns of interaction among general managers and their teams help them create and sustain competitive advantage.

Founded in 1990, the Center for Family Enterprise provides research and development to integrate family business awareness, knowledge and skills into the mainstream of our degree programs, applied research and executive education activities. Its mission is to help business families develop their family point of view and support consultants who do likewise.
